Yoga mat substitutes.
So you’ve decided to do some yoga and alas you can’t find a yoga mat can you still participate in this activity ?
Or will you need to go out and buy one ?
There are some alternatives in your home that you may be able to use so before you rush out and buy something have a look and see if you have these alternatives.
Number 1 on our list is the good old beach towel. Everyone has a beach towel lying around and it can be used as a good substitute although you may still feel some pressure from the floor and it will be harder in spots than using a yoga mat it will do the trick until you find a replacement.
If you need to buy yoga mat right now you can check out these great deals on amazon.com.
Number 2 on our list is the versatile mattress. Many people have a stored mattress somewhere for guests when they come and this can be a great alternative as usually they’re quite thin and similar to a yoga mat.
Simply unroll your mattress and lie it on the floor as you would a yoga mat.
Coming in at number 3 is the Carpet. Okay maybe sometimes you’re just going to have to bite the bullet and do the yoga on the floor
Now it’s not the end of the world unless you have really rough carpet so my suggestion would be to find an area of your house which has the softest flooring and use that it’s not ideal but it’s going to tide you over until you get a yoga mat.
4. Wooden Floor
Number 4 on our list is the good old wooden floor…
If you have a wooden floor it’s not going to be the most comfortable but it will be fine especially if you’re doing standing yoga poses and there are plenty of yoga poses which you can do without being on the ground and so perhaps until you get your replacement you going to have to use these exercises.
5. The Beach
Number 5 on our list is only going to be available to people that live near the beach.
Surprise surprise it’s the beach !
The beach can be a fantastic place to do yoga being right near the ocean as it washes in can give you and your soul some peace while you’re doing the yoga
Remember to bring your beach towel with you.
So while none of the above options are ideal, they can Tide you over until you get a new yoga mat. My advice would be when you buy your new one buy two or three so you don’t run into this problem again
Try to enjoy your time without your yoga mat and use some of the alternatives above and see if it can bring some new life into your yoga session.
